Target Audience
Luke Higgins is quite a versatile artist, he appeals to young girls aged 16 all the way to adults, people aged around 24. His music brings calm to people and allows people to be swept away in his song with his voice. Because Luke Higgins hasn't got any official music videos, we have chosen to study, in terms of target audience, an artist similar to him.
Jack Johnson
Johnson manages to attract millions of people, this is because his music isn't just for people of younger ages, which is what most artists nowadays try to attract. He writes his music so that people of all ages and of both genders can connect with it. Girls are more drawn into his music because he is a young
good looking man who has an impeccable voice. You would never see people who are interested in music genres like grunge or rock at Jack Johnson's concerts or at Higgins. Below are images of people at his concert and you can clearly see how the majority of his audience is female, and the ages range from as young as around 5 to any age. His music is clearly targeted at people of a carefree and music loving spirit and he is able to easily relate to people with these characteristics. People feel like they can relate to him as a person because in his lyrics they feel like he is exactly like them, girls, especially, enjoy his music because of his funny, caring and endearing songs. The reason why we have related him to Luke is because they give off the same spirit in their songs as each other and you can easily tell that they care more about their
music then the image they give off.

Costume list
Below are examples of what we want the characters in our video to look like.
We want to have people as guests within the video, laughing and having a good time. The way we want them dressed is :
The boys
in jeans and tux's
The girls
in cocktil dresses.
We also want:
Waitors and wateresses
wearing black trousers, a black top and a white apron. This again will give off a feel of a high class party.
This way the whole video will give off a glamouris feel and really enhance the wholole feel of the video.
For Luke we want to have him dressed in a tuxedo, lookng smart. We are also thinking of using a white silk scarf for one of the scenees just before he enters the second main room. Below is an image of what we were imagining, except it would be a black suit and not a blue one.
And lastly:
Ballet Dancers

Finalised idea
Our idea has changed to a video basically about a party that Luke is throwing. We want it to look glamorous and interesting. One problem that we may encounter is the fact that we have decided it to be all in one shot. This means that we need to hire a cameraman who's expertise is within this type of filming. Even though it may be difficult we know that it will be an incredible video.
We want to have him drive up to Leith Hill in a red MGB, driving up the drive, Luke gets out and starts to walk into the building but backwards while lip syncing the song. He walks into the first room and there's a bar with people enjoying themselves, he grabs a drink and continues to sing to the camera while walking away from the room. This is when he enters the stairwell, he places his drink on a silver tray, a girl then ushers on a jacket for him and a silver scarf and he enters to the second main room with ballet dancers. He sings to the camera and then the camera moves to the dancers as they display a choreographed piece. The camera focus's back on him and enters the last room, he walks over and sits down on a chair by the fireplace, this is when the instrumental piece of the video is highlighted and a band is playing by a window. After this, Luke stands up and we follow him out of the room, people around him having a good time. Then its the final piece of the video, we walk outside of the french windows, he is still lip syncing the song, and walks down a path of fireworks or candles, the camera pans around to turn to him in the front and Leith Hill in the back, he bows and fireworks go off in the background above the house and we end.
Leith Hill:
Below are a few pictures of what sort of things we want our party to have and what feeling we want it giving off.
We thought of using champagne glasses because we feel that it gives off a glamorous and elegant feel to parties which will enhance the total feel of our video.
We want the guests in dressed and tuxedos, as shown to the left and below that image. We thought that this gave the party a more elegant feel and showed the audience that it wasn't some normal party, but an exclusive one.
We chose this MGB car in red because we like the overall feel you get when you see it, you in a way feel like your in the presence of something special. We believe this will add to the overall glamorous feel to the video.

Developing Ideas: Take two
For the music video we knew that we had many paths that we could take with it but it was all about finding the right one. Below are ideas which we came to a conclusion of.
Idea 1
W head the idea of him waking up and walking aroundLondon , down the old and 'quirky' cobbled streets of individual areas. We thought of places lie Brick Lane and so on to give it that edgy feel to the music video. The main concept of the video was him looking or trying to meet up with the love of his life. We wanted to show a carefree, music loving character that was on a journey to find his love. But in the end it being unable to happen due situation which could not be over come, like walking straight past each other in a street.
Or

Idea 2
This idea was slightly similar to Idea1 but only in small parts, wanted to have him waking up in his bed and go on a journey through London , however, he would be on a bus for the majority of the trip. We thought about hiring one of the old London buses because we felt like it added to the whole feel of the video. As the journey progresses, he stops off at iconic areas like Big Ben or Buckingham Palace, and throughout this he would be sitting on the top deck of the buses alone. Different characters would slowly come on in situations which when we would sing they suddenly felt an uplift in emotions, for example an elderly man who just lost his wife, a couple fighting or even a child that is being bullied at school. We want to increase the focus of the lyrics because the song is meant to make people feel good and bring their emotions up and make them happier, so this is why we focused on the lyrics to really enhance the story line.
Overall, we chose Idea2, this is because the song feels like a British classic as you say and we want to add components of true British history to the video.
